Volunteering

Volunteering

I just want to help out. Where can I volunteer?

London is home to thousands of charitable organisations. We can suggest a few options…

Royal Voluntary Service

Voluntary service aiding community cafes, shops, the elderly and emergency services. This is an incredible opportunity to help your local community and truly make an impact.

The Access Project

They help pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds get into a top university through coaching or mentoring.

Indeed

Although it is primarily a jobs site, it offers many specialised volunteering positions as well! If you are looking for something related to your degree, you’re likely to find it here.

Can I work at a charity shop?

Yes! Charity shops need help too.

Any Charity Shop on your street, even if it’s not listed here, needs help. They are incredible when it comes to future job references and a good way to get to know the community around you. Don’t be afraid to ask them for volunteering opportunities; they are hugely flexible with no set work load.

Cancer Research UK

“Cancer Research UK was formed more than 20 years ago, in 2002. However, our history goes back much further, to 1902, with the founding of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. Thanks to supporters like you, our pioneering work into how to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer has benefitted millions of lives over the past 120 years.”

British Heart Foundation

“We fund over £100 million of lifesaving research into heart and circulatory diseases each year. We support you when you need us most. And we campaign for a healthier world.”

FARA

“FARA transforms the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children, and young people living in Romania, giving them a sense of family.”
